Study Program of Diploma 3 of Midwifery

Experience and Achievement

The study program of Diploma 3 of Midwifery has the experience of conducting training for midwives for 49 years since the opening of the ‘Aisyiyah School of Midwifery in 1963. There are thousands of alumni of the program spread all over the country. One of the outstanding achievements attained by the alumnu is becoming model midwives both in national and regional levels, heading certified practices, general hospitals, clinics, and maternity wards.

Length of Study

To attain graduation in the study program of midwifery, students should pass 6 (six) and 10 (ten) semesters with 118 compulsory credits.

Accreditation

The result of accreditation from the National Accreditation Board is B.

Education Objectives

To produce professional and Quranic midwives in the level of diploma, it is expected that the graduates are capable of:
Implementing concepts, principles, knowledge, and skills which give foundation on professionalism among midwives in carrying midwifery care and treatment.
Conducting midwifery care professionally for women throughout their cycles of life (adolescence, pre-marriage, pregnancy, labor, childbed, climacteric, menopause, grace period, conception period, neonates, baby, and toddler) in each level of health services in institutions and communities.
Developing professional and Quranic attitudes in midwifea’s practice, interpersonal communication, and counseling, as well as maintaining relationship with health team.
Giving midwifery treatment with strong consideration on local culture, promotion and prevention on reproductive health. The treatment can be in the form of health education, women, family, and society empowerment in regard to their curative and rehabilitative aspects.

Alumni Profile

The alumni of ‘Aisyiyah midwife Yogyakarta are diploma graduates of midwifery who are expected to take the roles of care provider, community leader, communicator, decision maker, and manager. The alumni may have typical job as:
Midwives who work independently (Private Certified Midwives or Bidan Praktek Swasta/BPS)
Executive midwives in hospital, maternity clinic, community health center, health center for mothers and children, community maternity clinic, community polyclinic, and community health post
Administrative midwives on health program for mothers and children in the Department of Health or community health center
Administrative midwives in maternity clinic, and health center for mothers and children

Educational System

Integrated semester credits; students are obliged to take subjects which have been administered in every semester
Length of study is 6 a�� 10 semesters
Score improvement for each subject can be done by having remedial test conducted in each semester

Learning Methods

Theoretical course is conducted with approaches namely student-centered learning, tutorial, e-learning
Laboratory and clinical practices. Laboratory practices are conducted in biomedics laboratory, nutrition laboratory, computer laboratory, and skills laboratory (mini hospital). While, clinic practices are conducted in private certified midwives/community health center/maternity clinic/hospital with assistance and guidance from each authority)
Clinical practices sharpen skills in dealing real life situation through practices in real settings, like, hospital, community health center, maternity clinic, and health center for mothers and children in Yogyakarta Special Province and its surrounding areas.

Nursing education is a professional academic education which consists of two steps namely Undergraduate Degree of Nursing and Professional Program of Nurse

Undergraduate Program

Objectives

To create nursing scholars who are equipped with:
the capacity of recognizing, giving approach and critical thinking, providing solution on problems of nursing cases, as well as carrying out the behavior of nursing graduate
the capacity of developing and applying their knowledge in the professional program of nurse
the capacity of developing and applying their knowledge, skills, and behavior based on their background knowledge on the chosen field
the capacity of developing and applying their knowledge in dealing with nursing cases and carrying out the behavior of Islamic nursing graduate
Number of Credits and Length of Study
Students in undergraduate program should accomplish 147 credits.
For the undergraduate program, students have 4 years (divided into 8 semesters) to accomplish their studies.

The length of study in each academic level is 8 – 14 semesters. For the Professional Program of Nurse, the length of study is 2 – 4 semesters.

D4 EDUCATOR MIDWIFE STUDY PROGRAM

D4 Educator Midwife Study Program of STIKES a�?Aisyiyah Yogyakarta is a study program that provides regular program and Aanvullen program. Regular program takes 8 semesters to finish. The graduates of this study program can continue their study to the higher level, the second degree (S2) and third degree (S3). It is because D4 has equal degree with the first degree (S1) level.

The graduates can be professional midwives, global insight managers, educators, scientists/ researchers.

Objectives

This study program aims at:
Fulfilling the needs of qualified and professional midwives or woman health practitioners.
Helping to enhance the quality and all things related to health services for mothers and babies.
Creating midwife graduates and/ or professional and woman health practitioners who have noble characters.
Fulfilling the needs and hopes of society and institutions through education service, training, research, service and development in midwife and woman health field.

Lecturing system

Starting from pre- academic activities, tutorial, module, classical lecture with experts, and clinical, hospital and community practice.

LEARNING METHOD

Theoretical learning is conducted through Student Centre Learning (SCL) approach, tutorial, module, classical learning with expert lecturers, and e-learning.
Practice in laboratory, including practice in biomedical laboratory, nutrition laboratory, computer laboratory, and laboratory skill (mini hospital).
Practice in clinic (private midwife clinic/ health service center/ maternity house/ hospital) with accompaniment and guidance.
Clinical practice, to practice the skill in facing real situation there is also practices in hospital, health centre services, maternity house, a�?Aisyiyah Islamic Hospitals in Yogyakarta.

Physiotherapy is a science of services directed to individual or group in order to develop, to maintain, and to recover body movement and function by using manual control, movement and device improvement (physical, mechanical, and electrotherapy), function and communication training.

Education System

As a college that put innovation and professionalism forward, Physiotherapy Study Program of STIKES a�?Aisyiyah Yogyakarta use Competency Based Curriculum (KBK) with Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. It is, then, realized in block form, an integrated part consisting of various topics or material and learning activities.

MASTER OF MIDWIFERY PROGRAM (S2)

In 2012, a�?Aisyiyah Health Science College of Yogyakarta was directly appointed by Directorate of General Higher of Education Republic of Indonesia to held Master of Midwifery Program. This program is addressed to all midwives either midwives who work in the education institutions or in clinical settings to improve the quality of midwivesa�� capabilities when applying knowledge, skill, and Islamic value. By implementing such competencies, it is expected that midwives could provide excellence midwifery care through the utilization of many researches in health care practice
Master of Midwifery program of a�?Aisyiyah Health Science College of Yogyakarta has a leading program in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) that become a very crucial method to analyse how far the result of a health research can be applied effectively and efficiently based on Islamic values in midwifery care. The application of HTA itself guarantees high-quality service which has a final aim to the achievement of patientsa�� satisfaction based on patient safety by considering the impacts to the patients itself, environment, carer, and cost. In fact, the utilization of HTA has not been well known by health care provider particularly midwives
